Janina Kulhay-Matsuda of Canada met Okimasa Matsuda, a 12th generation tea-master, while living in Kyoto Japan from 1995-2001. Together, they have been importing their unique premium organic green tea from their Japanese co-operative tea plantation to Canada since 2000, when Janina founded Tanabata Company in Toronto. After several years of making their specialty green teas available through select spas, health centres, and food fairs, Janina and Okimasa are opening their first dedicated Japanese green tea specialty shop in historic Elora Ontario, where they are now also residents and conduct tea ceremonies and seminars on “the art of Japanese green tea” from their home.
